CademPVD Features

The inbuilt intelligence of CademPVD enables design of equipment with unparalleled speed and ease. The user need not be a professional design engineer and even a draughtsman can operate this software with ease.

The software package supports the concept of a model, where the user defines the main features of the model such as shell with specified length and diameter, top torispherical and bottom conical heads, shell manhole and other components. The dimensions of the top torispherical and bottom heads have a direct relationship with the shell diameter. Similarly, the manhole neck thickness and the reinforcement pad thickness have direct relationship with the shell diameter and thickness.

In case, the user changes the diameter of shell and redesigns the model, the effect will be reflected on all other components. If the required input data are not provided, where possible, the software uses best possible estimates for these data values. The software decides on the method of calculation and code clauses to be applied based on input data and selected design code. The user can build common required models and save such models in the database. If there is a similar process equipment requirement, the user can retrieve the existing model, change bare minimum parameters and generate a new design.

The user can specify the design data in a common design data input dialog. This data is then used globally in the design of the model and thus all components. This reduces the user interaction. And, in case the user makes changes in design data and redesigns the model, the resulting effect is reflected on all the components. Thus the user can study the behaviour of the model under various conditions easily.

The software provides for the concept of a project wherein the user can define a project consisting of number of equipment. The user can open or create multiple number of such projects consisting of multiple equipment and work on them simultaneously.

All the equipment defined in one project can be saved in to a single project file, thus reducing the burden of tracking the model files on the hard drive. The user has the option of designing one or all of the equipment in a single project or all equipment in all the projects with a single mouse click.

The package performs calculations for various components of the equipment. Each component is designed to meet the requirements of the selected design code. Based on the user input and the components, appropriate code clauses are applied and design calculations performed. The package performs design calculations and selects thicknesses and other dimensions for each component of equipment meeting multiple design conditions namely Operating, Design1, Design2, Start-up, Shut-down, Upset, Hydrostatic, Pneumatic etc. under both corroded and uncorroded conditions in a single click.

It has three different features for equipment costing

1. Quick costing based on weight basis and labour rate.

2. Detailed costing accounting for all operation costs and material wastages.

3. Exporting the entire equipment BOM for user method of costing.

The material rates, labour rates and other information are entered on the fly while performing costing and are saved in to the database. These saved data are automatically made available for costing of the next equipment, saving users time and efforts.

The package automatically accesses the built in databank of over 3000 ASME material along with their properties like allowable stresses, yield strength, modulus of elasticity, thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity and has direct access to the various code charts from within the software package.

The software also has inbuilt dimensional standards for various components like Pipes, Flanges, Nuts, Bolts, etc. The database also covers items like Bearings, Flexible Couplings etc. that are required in the design of Agitator Shaft for Mixing Tanks & Reactors.

It also has all the details pertaining to various standard assemblies like Lug Supports, Saddle Supports, Anchor Chairs, Lifting Lugs etc. suitable for various sizes of Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Columns, Chimneys, API Storage Tanks etc.

This totally eliminates the headache of compiling input externally.

The software provides a facility to define material specifications in the form of data sets consisting of M.O.C.s for various equipment components. Selecting a single named set will automatically apply materials for various equipment components in single click, thus saving lot of equipment design time. These material specifications can be applied/selected for any model, thereby simplifying the process of material selection. The user has the option to add or alter material sets to meet his requirements.

The package provides detailed design calculations with relevant code clauses and formulae. It has the optional facility of printing output on paper or saving the designs into named files. The output of the software is in the form of html sheets. These design outputs can be checked easily by any engineer / third party consultants, manually. Thus approval of designs can be obtained quickly. This automatic generation of high quality documentation supports ISO process at customer’s end.
